Extended Care Permits
Kansas has three levels of Extended Care Permits for dental hygienists. They allow hygienists with an Extended Care Permit to provide care in community-based settings for traditionally underserved populations, often using mobile equipment.
An Extended Care Permit I primarily focuses on providing care in schools, early childhood settings, health departments, and community health centers. The Extended Care Permit II centers on providing care for people with developmental disabilities and older people. The Extended Care Permit III level requires an extended course of study and allows the hygienist to provide limited restorative procedures such as glass ionomer and adjusting dentures.
