Tanya Dorf Brunner has served as Executive Director of Oral Health Kansas since 2009. Tanya and the Oral Health Kansas team advocate for Medicaid dental benefits, educate Kansans about the importance of oral health, and promote the benefits of community water fluoridation. Tanya is the co-founder and past chair of the American Network of Oral Health Coalitions, a national organization dedicated to supporting and promoting the work of state oral health coalitions. She also co-leads the OPEN Network’s Midwest Regional Oral Health Connection Team and Policy Learning Collaborative. Previously, she was the Executive Director of Independence, Inc., an organization serving people with disabilities. She also served at the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services as Chief of Staff and Director of Legislative Affairs.
Tanya holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in political science and philosophy from Bethany College and a Master’s of Science in management from Baker University.

A clinical dental hygienist for 33 years, Kathy Hunt began her work in public health in 2004 when she took advantage of a new expanded dental practice act to design the first system in Kansas that provided preventive dental care in schools, Head Starts, and health departments. She was also instrumental in developing, implementing, and directing a dental safety net clinic in her local community of Wamego. Hunt served as Project Director for Kansas Cavity Free Kids, a Kansas Head Start Association oral health project, for 8 years. She is co-author of several oral health resource materials focused on families with young children and works as a tireless advocate for the oral health needs of pregnant women and children birth to five.

Sonia Olmos is the Operations and Communications Manager for Oral Health Kansas (OHK). Prior to joining OHK, she was the Director of Administrative Operations with the Kansas Health Consumer Coalition where she managed day to day operations, finances and human resources. Sonia’s background entails working with diverse families to help them access and navigate the health care system. She understands first-hand the barriers families face when they don’t have access to proper health care.
Sonia speaks Spanish and English. She holds a BA in Psychology and a MA in Social Work, both from Washburn University.

MaryAnne Lynch Small is a recent graduate from the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University with a background in clinical dentistry and health advocacy. Upon graduating with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree (BDS) from Dundee University in her home country of Scotland, MaryAnne practiced as a primary care dentist for a period of over five years. Her time in clinical practice cemented her desire to expand her knowledge and skills in public health to drive for oral health equity among marginalized populations- an inequity highly evident in MaryAnne's place of work in Glasgow, Scotland.

Dental Medicaid Facilitator
The Dental Medicaid Facilitator will launch a new program to increase dentist participation in the Kansas Medicaid program with a focus on providing care for people with disabilities. This position will support, provide resources to and assist dental providers with enrollment and credentialing processes, billing/claims processes, and other requirements in order to expedite provider enrollment and credentialing. The Dental Medicaid Facilitator will develop webinars, write articles, create website content, and develop a toolkit to help dental offices find information and resources about providing dental care for Medicaid members with disabilities. With the support of a stakeholder advisory group and using a proven model from the state of Missouri, the Dental Medicaid Facilitator will design and execute an outreach program to recruit dental offices to be Medicaid providers for people with disabilities. This position will serve as the liaison with an advertising company for a marketing campaign and will represent the organization at conferences and meetings throughout the state on a regular basis.

Education Coordinator
The Education Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the educational programs for the “Pathways to Oral Health” project to enhance access to dental care for people with disabilities. The Education Coordinator will lead the work to expand, develop, and deploy a range of educational tools and curricula for people with disabilities, caregivers, dental professionals, and other health professionals. Educational programs include creation of videos demonstrating toothbrushing, creating content for new webpages with educational resources, updating and providing in-person training programs for people with disabilities, designing education program evaluations, helping to create a Project ECHO series, and providing a variety of virtual education programs. The role also will include developing sustainability plans for education programs. The Education Coordinator will regularly represent the organization at statewide conferences and meetings, including setting up and managing exhibit booths as well as delivering presentations.

Project Coordinator
The Project Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the stakeholder-driven “Pathways to Oral Health” project to enhance access to dental care for people with disabilities. The Project Coordinator will convene stakeholder meetings and serve as a liaison to partners and contractors in the project. The position will be responsible for managing data collection, evaluation, and reporting on the grant project. The Project Coordinator will be responsible for working with five partner organizations that will have sub-contracts, as well as contracts with an advertising company, external facilitator, and education program designer. This position will organize meetings, coordinate reports from all partners, and ensure all staff and partners are aware of project activities and deadlines. The project funder requires monthly reporting, and the Project Coordinator will have primary responsibility for assembling all required information and preparing and submitting the reports.
